  • Head Client: Weddin Shire Council

Grenfell STP lies in the Riverina region of NSW.  Weddin Shire Council wanted to replace the outdated trickling filter plant with modern activated sludge technology, including restricted re-use.  The plant discharges to relatively sensitive rivers, demanding a high standard of treatment.  The cold winter temperatures placed additional demands on the plants, particularly with regard to advanced nitrogen removal.  ASpect was employed to Weddin Shire Council to provide process design review services.  The replacement plant included a package inlet works, advanced nitrogen removal SBR reactors, tertiary filtration, UV, chlorination, muti-point phosphorus precipitation, sludge lagoons and drying beds.  ASpect reviewed flows and loadings, re-use criteria, process selection, process unit sizing, P&IDs and the functional description.  ASpect also took part in workshops including HAZOPs.
