Bodalla STP Design Review (IDEA) for Eurobodalla Shire Council (NSW).

Eurobodalla Shire Council (ESC) embarked upon a project to sewer the townships of Bodalla and Potato Point on the NSW South Coast.  The scheme included greenfield low pressure sewerage systems, an STP and re-use including pasture irrigation.  The plant incorporates IDEA reactors, chemical phosphorus removal, sludge lagoons and drying beds plus multi-barrier disinfection to support re-use and (rare) discharge into sensitive coastal waters that sustain oyster farming.  ASpect was engaged to undertake a process design review of the concept design and detailed design.  This included the review of loadings and performance objectives, a parallel detailed process design to be used to benchmark the concept design, review of P&IDs and discussion on control, redundancy and risk of each process unit.  ASpect produced a benchmark process design that was adopted by the detailed designer.  ASpect also produced the detailed functional description (control specification) for the plant.  ASpect was also involved in the process commissioning of the STP.
