Grenfell STP Detailed Design Review

  • ASpect’s Client: Weddin Shire Council
  • Head Client: Weddin Shire Council
  • Plant Configuration: SBR

  • Project Duration: October 2018 to November 2019

Grenfell STP lies in the Riverina region of NSW.  Weddin Shire Council wanted to replace the outdated trickling filter plant with modern activated sludge technology, including restricted re-use.  The plant discharges to relatively sensitive rivers, demanding a high standard of treatment.  The cold winter temperatures placed additional demands on the plants, particularly with regard to advanced nitrogen removal.  ASpect was employed to Weddin Shire Council to provide process design review services for both the concept and detailed design phases of the project.  The replacement plant included a package inlet works, advanced nitrogen removal SBR reactors, tertiary filtration, UV, chlorination, muti-point phosphorus precipitation, sludge lagoons and drying beds.  During the detailed design phase, ASpect reviewed the final concept design, re-use criteria, process unit sizing, P&IDs, designer’s report and the functional description.  ASpect also took part in concept design, 30% design, 90% design and HAZOps workshops.
