Spring Hill STP Capacity Assessment for OCC (NSW).

Spring Hill STP is a 1,000 EP facility that services the townships of Spring Hill and Lucknow, near Orange in NSW.  Spring Hill STP is an unusual plant in that it incorporates a single tank continuous flow biological reactor.  The clarifier forms part of the reactor with RAS returning by gravity.  It has no inlet works and no wet weather bypass, meaning that all dry and wet weather flows must receive full treatment.  ASpect was commissioned to provide a detailed, unit by unit capacity assessment of Spring Hill STP, including its feed pumping stations.  The capacity assessment identified apparent errors in flow readings, sub-optimal WAS pump sizing and opportunities to increase capacity through changes in operating set points.  Modelling was used to determine the current and optimised capacity.  Bottlenecks such as aeration were also identified, with strategies provided to increase capacity to the 1000 EP rating and beyond.
