Bid Design for 70,000 EP Rouse Hill STP Stage 2 (IDEA), with Parsons Brinckerhoff and Barclay Mowlem (now Laing O’Rourke) for Sydney Water (NSW).

Rouse Hill STP services the rapidly growing western sector of Sydney. Sydney Water needed to both amplify the facility and reduce the effluent loads released to the sensitive Cattai Creek catchment. A DD&C delivery method was employed, with a design based on augmenting the existing Johannesburg facility with IDEA reactors. Tertiary clarification, tertiary filtration and disinfection facilities were also amplified to provide a holistic wet and dry weather solution. A consortium consisting of Parsons Brinckerhoff, Barclay Mowlem and ASpect were short-listed to bid. ASpect’s role was brainstorming and process design review through the bid phase. This involved independent process modeling, process design and frequent communication with the PB bid design team. The bid was unfortunately unsuccessful.
