Options report review, concept design and detailed design of Dora Creek WWTP (Conversion of IDEA to MLE) with Parsons Brinckerhoff for Hunter Water (NSW).

Dora Creek WWTP was an existing, small scale facility servicing local communities in the Hunter Water area of operation. ASpect, as part of a team headed by Parsons Brinckerhoff, was awarded the concept design and detailed design of an upgrade to the existing IDEA facilities. The aim was to increase capacity, provide new and amplified digestion and sludge handling, while maintaining low nitrogen and providing for future low phosphorus.. The solution involved the conversion of the existing IDEA tanks to MLE reactors (including selectors), new clarifiers, and a new aerobic digester staged for delivery as the existing sludge lagoons run out of capacity. Redundancy was a key requirement, so contingency operation was afforded with a swing zone, which provides for full dry weather treatment with a reactor or clarifier unit off line for maintenance.
