Batemans Bay STP Upgrade Review (NSW).

Eurobodalla Shire Council recently upgraded the Batemans Bay STP to improve performance and reliability.  New tertiary treatment pressure filters were installed as part of the upgrade. However, these filters had proven to be unreliable.  The NSW Department of Public Works had proposed an additional upgrade strategy aimed at rectifying the filter shortfalls.  The NSW EPA asked ASpect to review the proposed strategy to determine if it was appropriate and exhaustive. ASpect commended the approach proposed by Public Works with a few enhancements and modifications.  ASpect also highlighted some operational improvements that would lead to increased secondary treatment capacity and reliability.  These additional strategies were aimed at reducing the frequency of clarifier capacity loss, thereby reducing the load and backwash frequency of the filters.
